The city of Cudahy is located along the shoreline in southern Milwaukee County, just to the north of South Milwaukee. The city of  has been a blue-collar industrial town since  Patrick Cudahy moved his meat packing plant here in 1892. It was incorporated as a village in 1895.   In 1906 Cudahy was   incorporated as a city with a population of 2,556. Other industries soon followed. These include the Ladish Co. established in 1912. Modern Machine, a producer of crankshafts, was built in 1924, Lucas-Milhaupt silver brazing company set up shop in 1943 and Cudahy Tanning in 1946. These companies and many other businesses, both large and small, thrive today, giving Cudahy a strong economy. The city's motto is "Generations of Pride" and you can see this pride in the community, with well maintained lawns and homes.

   Due to the city's planning, there are over 350 acres of park land along the lake. In fact, the whole length of Cudahy along the lake is park. The two parks, Sheridan and Warnimont, offer a wide variety of activities. You will find baseball and softball diamonds, tennis and sand volleyball courts and many picnic areas. In Sheridan there is a swimming pool and in Warnimont there is a 18-hole par 3 golf course. A paved bike trail connects the two parks with other county parks as part of the 90 mile Oak Leaf Trail, set up by the county park system. The Cudahy War Monument is located on the corner of S. Lake Drive and E. War Memorial Blvd. in Sheridan Park. The School District of Cudahy serves about 3000 students in the K-12 programs. The District has set high learning standards and has instituted a strategic planning and accountability process to maintain high quality instruction.
   The economic climate in the city of Cudahy is is one of progressiveness and cooperation between City government, the Chamber of Commerce and the Downtown Business District known as Lakeside Commons. They are working together to improve and revitalize the business district, an ongoing program improving the quality of life for citizens, business and visitors alike. Land made available on the west end of the city is being developed to bring new and expanding industries to the community.
   There are several shopping areas within the city. Lakeside Commons, the central business district, offers a variety of small retail and specialty shops and numerous restaurants. There are also two shopping centers, offering products ranging from electronic equipment and fabrics to candy and jewelry.
