Milwaukee County Park System

The Milwaukee County Park System has been called one of the finest in the nation. CountyFall_in_Grant_Park.JPG (86265 bytes) residents are naturally proud of the parks and enjoy all they have to offer on a daily basis. There are over 140 parks, totaling over 23 square miles, covering more area then some cities. Fourteen of the of the parks are located on the lake, five of these have beaches. If you enjoy swimming there are 18 parks with pools, both indoor & outdoor, including three new Aquatic Centers. You say golf is your activity of choice, then you will enjoy any one of the 16 parks with golf courses, or if tennis is your game, you will find 130 courts to play on.
Bikers and hikers will enjoy the 90 mile Oak Leaf Recretional Trail, composed of paved park paths, park and parkway drives and city streets when necessary. All the major parks and parkways can be visited on the Trail.

If you enjoy the serenity of a beautiful garden then, the Boerner Botanical Gardens, a 40 acre formal public garden, or the Mitchell Park Horticulural Conservatory (The Domes), three unique glass domes that house a tropical rain forest, a desert oasis and five seasonal floral shows, are for you. The park system offers free concerts in several of the parks, in fact in the summer you could attend a free concert everyday.
