WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN KARAT WEIGHTS OF GOLD?

24K gold is 100% pure gold and is too soft for jewelry, therefore it is mixed with different alloys to increase durability and hardness. 14K gold has 14 parts gold and 10 parts alloy so the total adds up to 24. 10K gold has 10 parts gold and 14 parts alloy. 10K gold is more durable then 14K  because it has more alloy and is stronger and because it has less gold content it costs less than 14K.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN NATURAL AND CULTURED PEARLS?

Natural pearls are formed by nature in the body of an oyster. They are very rare and often have irregular shapes. Cultured pearls are formed when man introduces an irritant in the oysters body. We sell cultured pearls at Donn Powers Jeweler.
