The
South Shore region is made up of four counties. Kenosha on the Illinois-Wisconsin
border, Racine, Milwaukee and Ozaukee. This area covers over 1,000 square miles and
has over 60 miles of shoreline, many of which have been set aside for Parks, Nature Trails and Bike Paths. Golf Courses, both public and private, include local par 3
courses and par 5's. So no matter what you enjoy doing, whether hiking, biking or cross
country skiing, the area provides ample space for you to do so. There is fishing and
boating all along our shoreline, with many marinas, like the Racine Harbor
at the right, charter fishing facilities and public
boat ramps. There
are many communities scattered along the shore, from
small towns to major metropolitan areas, each with its own unique flavor and ethnic
backgrounds. In fact, we are so proud of our heritage, we celebrate it with many
ethnic festivals and literally hundreds of fine restaurants.
There are plenty of church, civic, city and county festivals. Our diverse
economy ranges from high-tech medical equipment and motorcycles to hand
tools and household cleaning products. The region is also a shopper's delight. Each
community offers its own unique shopping experience. From the downtown stores and local
specialty shops to the large shopping malls and manufacturers' outlet centers, you will
find your own brand of South Shore treasures. |
